Funny Video

These were some creative and brave knitters... the sound may not be the greatest, but it's still pretty good. http://www.pisadesigns.com/gangstaKnitter.mov

Liv has been conquered!

After four attempts I finally figured out the chart for the front of the Liv sweater! I finally just blew up a photocopy of the chart from the book, got out a pencil and made lots of notes on my chart to remind me of what and what not to do. Not exactly scientific, but it worked. I'll switch over and do the front right chart this afternoon, then I can connect the two pieces and continue on up the front with one piece.

I lost the Gilligan's Island contest, but only because I lost the coin toss between the other person who had the same number of correct answers as I. Who would have known that Gilligan's real name was Willy Gilligan... sheesh. Anyway, I won't be immortalized as an animated character.

This is national "Turn off your television" week. We're participating and my girls are not pleased with me.

Contest winners, you have not been forsaken. I received an email this morning that the yarn from Blue Moon Fiber Arts will be mailed to me on Monday. They were out of one of the colorways and have been busily dyeing. Once it arrives here then I'll package it up and send out your winnings.

Tell a Fib...

Okay, this is another contest I've entered. For this one you must write a Fibonacci Poem with knitting content. As most people are aware, the Fibonacci sequence goes as follows 0, 1,1,2,3,5,8,13, etc. Each number is the sum of its two predecessors. The Knitting Curmudgeon is holding this contest in celebration of her birthday today. Happy Birthday Knitting Curmudgeon!

Here's what I submitted:

0 ~
1 Cat
1 Chewing
2 And frogging
3 I frantically knit
5 The socks must be finished
8 Mom asked for special hand knit birthday socks
13 Kitty pulls stitches off double points again, rabbit kicks and bites the sock
21 Sock and sanity now unravel, profanity errupts loudly, kitty scrambles for safety from crazed human, indignant kitty sits
behind closed door
34 Knitting resumes with soggy yarn and silence, heel is turned, gusset picked up, foot finished, toe shaped, grafting done,
ends woven, sock completed, door opens, "here kitty kitty" why won't kitty play with yarn?

Busy and needing help!

I've been very busy these past couple of days. On Saturday I drove down to Rochester and met up with my sister, Jackie, for some serious garage saling. She is truly the bargain queen and heaven help anybody who gets between all 100 pounds of her and her query. We had fun and managed to score some good loot (most of my haul is currently listed on ebay to offset some recent yarn purchases). This is one of the* whiskey boxes I bought that is currently listed.

This weekend the first of my father's giant socks was finally completed. Women's and children's socks knit up so much faster than men's socks. Anyway, here is sock number one of "Pebbly Lake Beach".

If there is anybody who has every knitted using one of Elsebeth Lavold's charts who would be willing to offer suggestions then I'd be very grateful! I finished the back of the Liv sweater. There isn't much to show with this as it is extremely plain. Anyway, as I endeavor to begin the sweater's front my confusion at how to interpret her instructions becomes a big issue. If at least a couple of rows of long hand were included in the book then perhaps I'd figure this out. But alas, my feeble brain hurts with the effort.

Cheerio all!

*yes, technically Drambuie is a cordial, but it has a scotch whiskey base.
