The Love Boat, soon will be making another round,

OMG! Look what Mama E has done! I want to go. Mostly just to meet all if the knitters/spinners, etc. That whole Titanic thing kind of freaks me out about cruise ships, but fiber, friends and moderate amounts of alcohol could negate those fears. If B gets a job and we can swing it financially then I'm game. I say we spread the word and fill that boat with knitters.

Also, here is a picture of my Grandpa Porgy giving my sister a congratulatory rose last night.

And here is some of my family. They are from left to right: my Grandpa Porgy, my sister, Jackie, my BIL, Mike, My Dad, My Mom and A1 is standing in front of Jackie and Mike. Everyone had been rained on and it was pretty cold.

Great Start to the weekend!

Happy Friday Y'all!

We've had some good news today. We can do a buy-back for salvage on B's car and pay the difference between what insurance will pay us and what the actual repairs will be. That means we don't need a car loan. YEAH! I hate debt.

Also, A1 and A2 received scholarships to attend Girl Scout Camp! I may do some volunteer time out at the camp. Last year I ran the first grade group and it was wonderful... exhausting, but wonderful. I didn't have the time to take on a project that big again this year.

And tonight my sister, Jackie, graduates from dental assistant school in Olympia. She's worked very hard and is the top graduate from her class. We're all very proud of her. I'm bringing A1 with me to the graduation and then she'll leave from there with my mom for a few days.

My mom is a fabulous seamstress and A1 wants to learn how to sew, so they will have several days of lessons. Later this summer A2 will spend some time at grandma's taking painting lessons. A3 still doesn't want to be away from me overnight.

Speaking of A3, the little monkey has taught herself how to ride a two-wheeler in just under a week!

I cast on a pair of Jaywalkers in the JuneBug colorway from Mama-E's PS Sock club last night. Hopefully there will be some knitting time this afternoon. Cheers!

Another Meme

NEW Meme: Please leave a one-word comment that you think best describes me — it can only be one word long. Then copy and paste this into your blog so that I may leave a word about you.

Personally, I think the word that best describes me today would have to be "scrambling."

I'm still filling out lots of paperwork for medical coverage for me and B. I'm also trying to research used cars, clean my messy house and plan summer activities for A1, A2 and A3. Today was their last "day" of school. They only attended until 9:45 so it wasn't much of a day.

No knitting content today. Lots of projects on my "to-do" list. I found some adorable animal toys that I want to knit and felt. This will eat up some of my odds and ends scraps. Hooray!

Knittin' the dog a bone...

My pal Cindy is spreading the word about another worthy cause to be championed by knitters and crocheters alike. It seems that Basil and Abner are heading up a drive to collect hand knitted, crocheted, felted or sewn toys, bedding or other items that can be used and loved by shelter animals. There are links to patterns, pictures of adorable and adoptable animals and a link to an address where the toys, etc. can be mailed. Making a critter happy is wonderfully rewarding by itself, but believe it or not there are even going to be drawings for prizes and everyone who contributes something will be entered. Talk about a great feel-good project! I'm felting catballs with dingle bells tonight.

In other news... B's little red Toyota Echo is considered totaled. The damage didn't look too bad and he was able to drive it home, but when the auto shop pulled the panels they discovered that the frame was crunched up pretty bad. I'm glad this was a slow accident, had it been at high speeds the car would not have provided much protection. Anyway, so once the insurance people settle the paperwork then it's time for some used car shopping. I'd rather have a root canal.

Cheers everyone!

June 12th!

Hooray for June 12th! Today is the final day for the Dye-O-Rama exchange and I know that sometime soon some delectible, beautiful, yummy yarn will appear in the mail. Dye-O-Rama has been fun and I've enjoyed reading the other members' sites and getting to know my pal, PoMo Golightly. I'm now hooked on ginger because of I just had to buy an extra package of her preferred treats for my own sampling. Mmmm, it's almost as good as Chocolate! Thank you Scout, Noelle, Monica and Cookie for organizing this.

A big thank you to Gina over at
Sleepy Eyes Knitting! Today in the mail I received not one, but TWO books by Debbie Macomber along with an adorable kitty and yarn card. I've never read any novels about knitting before. I'm looking forward to trying out the patterns included in the fronts of these books too! Thank you again Gina.

I've slowly started to list items for sale over at eBay. It's been awhile since I've sold there so it took forever to create the listings. Ecclectic garage sale or shabby cheap (no misspelling here, this stuff has never been chic) are the adjectives that best describe my wares. Although this week I started out with some retired Fiesta pieces that I never use. Here's a link to
my listings. Ssssh, B has a birthday coming up so I'm trying to make some money to get him a special birthday/father's day present. He rarely reads my boring blog so the secret should be safe.

Cheers all!

P.S. this post has been edited. A picture of Elsebeth Lavold's Liv Sweater has been added for Sopranospinner. Thank you for visiting!

Did y'all do your part and participate in Knit in Public Day? I'm hanging my head in shame, for I did not. Oh, I knitted, but home and alone. These sleeves are in that phase where they never seem to grow.

B came home tonight! He looks tired and is already in bed. The girls were all very excited to see him.

I pulled lots of weeds this weekend. Another week or two of work should have the
yard back into shape. While uncoiling a hose from winter storage I found an abandoned bird's nest. Many of the bird nests we find are lined with horse hair. Our neighbor keeps 6 or 7 next door so there is an abundant supply for the birdies. I just hope the birds don't take the hair directly from the horsies, ouch!

We have three apple trees in our yard and the big, old one is full of little green apples! The other two were only planted last year so they'll be forgiven for pre-adolescent barrenness. But barring heavy winds, blight, etc. we should be set. Two years ago our freezer was packed with apple pies and I dried apples and canned applesauce until the smell made me nauseous. Then last year we barely had enough apples for one pie.
I also picked my first batch of strawberries today! They are already cleaned and in the freezer. Usually about mid-summer there is a week or two of hardcore jam and jelly making.

Hope everyone had a great weekend. Cheers!
